MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – Dear Editor/News Director:

This is in response to an opinion by Dr. Robert Dwyer recently published in newspapers statewide. He suggested dentists reinvigorate their commitment to the dental Medicaid (MA) program. That is a very worthy goal, but begs the question: How does he expect dentists to be suddenly reinvigorated by a program that has such a stark history of distrust and frustration?

NJDA Wins Budget Battle with New Jersey Governor

TRENTON, New Jersey – Since February of this year, when Governor James E. McGreevey deleted funding for all adult dental Medicaid in his proposed state budget for fiscal year 2004, the future of the adult dental Medicaid program in New Jersey has been in jeopardy. However, due to the efforts of the New Jersey Dental Association (NJDA), yesterday the governor signed into law a budget that included the fully funded program ($14 million in state funds and $14 million in matching federal funds).

Key Legislators Join Coalition to Restore Adult Dental Medicaid Program to State Budget

TRENTON, New Jersey – Today, Assemblymen Louis Greenwald (district 6) and Jeff Van Drew (district 1), and Senators Tom Kean, Jr. (district 21) and Joe Vitale (district 19) pledged their support keep the adult dental Medicaid program in the state budget for 2004.
