Tarrson Fellowship Fund Hits $1 Million

CHICAGO, Illinois – The Bud and Linda Tarrson Fellowship fund of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation hit the $1 million mark recently with a sizable donation directed by Linda Tarrson from the E.B. Tarrson Philanthropic Fund. The Tarrson Fellowship, a $30,000 career development award for academic periodontists, is granted to one recipient each year.

The UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School Holds a Groundbreaking Ceremony for a $45 Million Expansion and Renovation Project

NEWARK, New Jersey – Students, faculty, administrators and alumni of the New Jersey Dental School attended a ground-breaking ceremony recently on the Newark campus of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) for a new academic and clinical care building. This is one facet of a $45 million expansion and renovation project of the state's only dental school and part of the University's $518 million capital construction program.

UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School Hosts a Free Screening To Detect Oral Cancer

NEWARK, New Jersey – Many Americans have experienced a red or white spot or sore in their mouths. Often these are harmless. However, in some cases, these spots and sores can indicate the early signs of oral cancer. Men and women over age 18 are invited to a free oral screening at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) on Thursday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The screenings will be held at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School, 110 Bergen Street in Newark, and at the University Dental Center located at 13 Somerdale Square, Somerdale.

Boston Univesity School of Dental Medicine Awarded Robert Wood Johnson Fellowship

BOSTON, Massachusetts--Boston University School of Dental Medicine (BUSDM) has been awarded $1.35 million dollars from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The five-year grant, awarded through the Foundation's Pipeline, Profession and Practice: Community-Based Dental Education program, will support the school's efforts to increase enrollment of minority and low-income students into dental schools, increase the number of dental schools with community-based practice sites, and expand access to oral health care for vulnerable populations through dental school and community partnerships.
