NYS Dental Foundation receives grant from GSK

ALBANY, New York – The New York State Dental Foundation will receive a $40,000 grant to help improve older adults’ access to oral health care through a fund set up by GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSK) and the American Dental Association Foundation. GSK Consumer Healthcare donated $250,000 last year to the ADAF to establish the Access to Oral Health Care for Older Adults Initiative.

Dentists are the First Line of Defense for Elder Abuse

CHICAGO, Illinois – With the U.S. population living longer, seniors' oral health has become an important issue, as has the widespread problem of elder abuse. Every year more than 2.5 million older Americas may be victims of elder abuse, and in some cases dentists serve as the first line of defense, according to a new report in the May/June 2005 issue of General Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry's (AGD) clinical, peer-reviewed journal.

BUSDM Aims to Improve Elder Oral Health Care
