In addition to the CDC’s best management techniques and recommendations, Infection Control Training and Hazard Communications for the Dental Team, (also available on cd) includes new concepts and technologies such as:

• the introduction of “standard precautions”
• restrictions for DHCW occupationally exposed to infectious diseases
• hand hygiene products
• transmissible spongiform encephalopathies
• dental water quality

Those completing the course online can download and complete a self assessment survey and return it to the Foundation for four MCE credits and a certificate of completion.

Dentists and dental hygienists are required to complete infection control training every four years. This course not only fulfills the state mandate for licensure for dentists and hygienists, but it can also be used to supplement staff OSHA training. The course is co-sponsored by the New York State Dental Association, an ADA CERP approved provider.
