“This new deadline extension provides our members with extra time to pass the exam, earn continuing education (CE) credits and submit an award application,” says AGD President Bruce DeGinder, DDS, MAGD. “I would encourage all members that are within reach of their Fellowship or Mastership to participate in this exciting opportunity.”
The AGD Convocation and the Premier Celebration will be held on the afternoon and evening of Sat., June 30, 2007. After the convocation ceremony, the festivities will continue on board the USS Midway with constituent and regional celebrations.
“We added a number of new enhancements to our 2007 AGD Annual Meeting & Exhibits,” says Paul Bussman, DMD, FAGD, chair of the AGD’s Council on Annual Meetings and International Conferences. “Members who attend this convocation event can cap off an unforgettable evening with family and friends with our premier celebration which will feature fireworks, food and fun.”
To make arrangements, members can visit the AGD Web site, www.agd.org to complete a Fellowship or Mastership application by the deadline of March 1, 2007. The AGD Fellowship exam is available at Prometric Centers throughout the United States and Canada. Prometric centers feature convenient locations, flexible hours, and immediate test results.
The AGD also provides a new Fellowship Exam Study Buddy Forum, available on the AGD’s Web site to help members prepare for the exam. This Web forum helps to facilitate the open exchange of study tips, resource materials, or simply to pose questions. The AGD’s Council on Examinations also monitors the forum to help answer any questions related to the examination that might arise. The Fellowship Exam Study Buddy Forum can be found at http://forums.agd.org/agd_studybuddy.
About the AGD Fellowship Award
The AGD Fellowship award is an opportunity for general dentists to distinguish themselves professionally through quality continuing education. Attaining Fellowship is a rigorous process that requires three years of membership in the AGD, 500 hours of continuing education, passing an exam and culminates with receiving the award at the convocation ceremony held each year at the AGD Annual Meeting & Exhibits.
About the AGD Mastership Award
The AGD Mastership award signifies the achievement of clinical excellence in all areas of oral health care. The honor of Mastership in the AGD is bestowed on less that one-half of one percent of general dentists annually. Attaining Mastership requires 400 hours of participation credit in 16 disciplines of dentistry over and above the hours taken for Fellowship.
About the AGD
The AGD is a professional association of approximately 35,000 general dentists dedicated to staying up-to-date in the profession through continuing education. Founded in 1952, the AGD has grown to become the world’s second largest dental association, which is the only association that exclusively represents the needs and interests of general dentists. A general dentist is the primary care provider for patients of all ages and is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, management and overall coordination of services related patients’ oral health needs.
