Revisions Sought For Standard Related To Clinical Terminology

Dental professionals are invited to review and suggest revisions to a diagnostic code set developed in part by the ADA.

CHICAGO, Illinois — Revised ANSI/ADA Standard No. 2000.1 SNODENT (Systemized Nomenclature of Dentistry) was approved by the American National Standards institute as an American National Standard in November 2017. The American Dental Association (ADA) has established a maintenance process for SNODENT to revise the standard annually to ensure it is kept updated.

SNODENT is searchable and available to view at Browse SNODENT. Change requests may be submitted through the online submittal form at SNODENT Change Request Form.

Dental professionals can submit change requests for SNODENT until Feb. 5 for consideration by the SNODENT Maintenance Committee, which will meet February 21.

The SNODENT Maintenance Committee is made up organizations representing the recognized dental specialties, the benefit programs community, vendors, academia and government. The meeting is open to all interested observers.

To register for the February 21 meeting, send a request to SNODENT@ada.org.
